18 Distinctions in the German Design Awards 2023 for Portugal
“Excellent Product Design”, “Excellent Communications Design” and “Excellent Architecture”: Portuguese Design distinguished with 18 awards in the three categories
More than 4,200 products and projects from 57 countries were submitted to the German DesignAwards 2023. “Gold”, “Winner” and “Special Mention” prizes were awarded in the categories “Excellent Product Design”, “Excellent Communications Design” and “ExcellentArchitecture”. Portugal received 18 distinctions.
German Design Awards
Since its creation in 1953, one of the main tasks of the German Design Council has been to observe, analyze, and evaluate the most innovative international design developments. The German Design Awards are among the most recognized design prizes in the world, as they underline the cultural and commercial importance of design. Each year, the German Design Awards highlight the most current issues and trends in design.
Portuguese Distinctions:
In addition to 14 Honorable Mentions (“Special Mention”), Portugal received 4 “Winner” distinctions:

Public Choice Award
The “Public Choice Award”, which allows the public to make their own choice, runs until January 27. The winner of this award, as well as the “Personality of the Year” and the “German Design Award – Newcomer”, will be known on February 3 during the Awards Ceremony, which takes place in Frankfurt in the context of the largest international trade fair for housewares and gifts, Ambiente.

German Design Council
Established in 1953, the German Design Council has become one of the leading international centers for communication and knowledge transfer when it comes to design, branding, and innovation.
