Emotional Objects wins international award, for the ninth time
Emotional Objects, a Portuguese brand of luxury furniture, located in Vila Nova de Famalicão, won a “Silver A’ Design Award” in the prestigious competition “A’ Design Awardand Competition”, in the category “Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design”, with its collection of sofas and armchairs Lazy Day.
The “A’ Design Award and Competition” is one of the most prestigious and influential design awards in the world, with tens of thousands of competitors annually, which recognizes and rewards excellence and originality in the design of products, projects, and services in the areas of architecture, fashion, arts, communication, and product design.
The winning collection, designed by architect João Faria in 2014 and only launched in 2020 after several years of maturation of the final design and construction methods, is composed of six different pieces, including sofas and armchairs, with slight differences in their finishes and design.one of the most distinctive features of these pieces are the wooden accents, with fluid and rounded shapes.
But this is not the first time that this collection of Emotional Objects had an international highlight; in November 2020, shortly after its launch, the unavoidable American magazine “Interior Design Magazine”, published the Modern version of the sófa as a “Statement-Making Seat”.
Emotional Objects, made its world debut at the Maison & Objet Paris furniture fair in January 2016. The brand produces decorative pieces and high-end furniture, which are characterized by their bold design, originality and quality of execution.
This is already the ninth award collected by the brand since its inception, counting among them one gold and, with the latter, three silver. Another very important distinction was, in 2018, the nomination as a finalist in the “Best Brand Innovation” category, by the renowned international design award “Harper’s Bazaar Interior Awards”.
Also in May, Emotional Objects launched its first Outdoor Furniture collection, with strong inspiration from the lines of this award-winning collection. It is called “Emotional Object #060: Let ́s Go Outside” and is composed of armchairs, sofas and tables for gardens, pools and outdoor terraces, in perforated and lacquered aluminum, resistant to the elements of Nature.
João Faria, architect by training and co-founder of Emotional Objects, is one of the most awarded designers in Portugal, however, his work still has little visibility within national borders.
Despite the strong focus on internationalization, mainly in the US market, all Emotional Objects’ pieces are necessarily produced in Portugal and, for the most part, with a strong handmade component. After being designed, all the pieces are tested and prototyped by João Faria himself at the brand’s atelier; later, they are executed in several partners, under strict quality standards. In certain collections, such as the Roots, Mikado and Nature lines, João Faria makes almost all the pieces himself, to ensure that the final results are what he wants.
