Sebastian Herkner is one of the most notable industrial designers of his generation, internationally recognised
for his work that combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary innovation. Born in 1981 in Bad Mergentheim, Germany, Herkner studied product design at the renowned University of Offenbach, where he began to explore the fusion of different cultures, materials and techniques.
During his studies, hem ade na internship with the prestigious british designer Stella McCartney, an experience that grew his interest for desing that values aesthetic sensitivity, sustainability, and respect for artisanal heritage. In 2006, he founded his own studio in Offenbach am Main, beginning a career marked by collaborations with renowned brands such as &Tradition, ClassiCon, Moroso, Thonet, among others.
Herkner’s signature resides in his capacity to balance forn and function, vreating pieces with a strong visual impact, but that maintain an emotional connection with the user. One of his most emblematic works is the Bell Table armchair, releases in 2012 by Classicon, that shows his innovative approach by combining hand-blown glass with metal. Herkner’s work has been recognised with several international awards, including the EDIDA (Elle Deco International Design Award) and the title of Designer of the Year by Maison& Objet in 2019. These accolades consolidate his position as one of the central figures in contemporary design.
