PORTUGAL HOME WEEK, JUNE 21 AND 22, 2022
WORLD BRANDS AND DECISION-MAKERS FROM THE HOME LINE MEET IN OPORTO
Renowned professionals from various nationalities discuss the future of the Home Sector
The main national and international players of the Home Sector will be gathered at Portugal Home Week, on June 21 and 22, 2022, at the Alfândega Congress Center in Porto.
The event, organized by the Portuguese Association of Furniture and Related Industries (APIMA) with the institutional support of AICEP Portugal Global, is expected to receive professionals from more than 40 nationalities to discuss the future of one of the most exporting clusters of the national economy, as well as to present to the world the latest trends and innovations of the Portuguese Home Sector.
Portugal Home Week will have two major moments: Home Show and Home Summit. The Home Show is the showcase par excellence of Portuguese production, with the participation of about 60 exhibitors from the Portuguese Home Industry: furniture and bedding, home textiles, lighting, housewares, decorative and utilitarian ceramics.
The Home Summit, in turn, is a discussion forum where the future, innovation, internationalization, and sustainability of these sectors will be debated. The initiative counts with the presence of speakers such as Álvaro Siza Vieira, one of the most recognized and awarded world architects, Ingrid Abramovitch, Executive Editor of Elle Decor New York, Mario Ortega, CEO of BIMObject Latin America and Iberian Peninsula, and Mário Ferreira, CEO of Nau Group, among many others.
In parallel to these two axes, several other actions will take place, such as meetings between companies and importers (Home B2B), leisure activities for visitors (Home Fun Trips) and initiatives developed with the purpose of promoting Portuguese design and fostering the recognition of creativity and national culture (Partners).
The international participants will also have the opportunity to directly visit factories and showrooms of national companies, under the Home Pro Trips initiative.
According to Gualter Morgado, “Portugal Home Week aims to position the Portuguese Home Sector nationally and internationally as a cluster of recognized quality, capable of bringing together tradition and innovation. APIMA’s Executive Director also emphasizes that “By having the presence of buyers and prescribers from all over the world, this event also allows to support domestic companies in penetrating new markets in order to diversify exports,” he concludes.
The second edition of Portugal Home Week marks the return of the event after a pause caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. In its first edition, the initiative brought together a thousand professionals and 50 companies, generating one million euros in orders and, in the following months, businesses worth almost 10 million euros.
This year visitors are expected from markets such as the USA, Canada, France, Spain, the UK, Germany, Austria, Belgium, and also the Nordic countries. Comprising more than 60,000 workers and more than 7,500 companies, the industries of the Portuguese Home Sector account for 4.5% of total Portuguese exports, with a turnover of 3.3 billion euros.
