Bernardino Costa : Herdade do Peso

In this MN’s editi on, we will take a small trip to Herdade do Peso – a Sogrape property located around Vidigueira in Alentejo – through the Revelado 2021. This Revelado does the great wines of this region justice, as it contains all that is expected:
soft round tannins, the warmth of red fruit and spices, on point acidity. All this making it a “dangerous” wine as it could be har to have just one glass or even one bott le, due to its nobility and delicious complexity hiding its 14% alc. Additionally, with an excellent price quality ratio. According to the producer and with its enologist’s mastery, Luís Cabral de Almeida: – “this Revelado 2021’s vinification process was made through selected grape plots. Aft er maturati on trials, the grapes have been
harvested in their opti mal point of maturati on. After complete
destemming and light crushing, we proceeded to its macerati on and fermentation, with reassembly in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 28ºC, during 12 days. We have obtained intense wines, elegant and expressive of the place”. The blend of grapes that originated this beauti ful wine was Alicante Bouschet (64%), Touriga Nacional (16%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%). Aft er malolacti c fermentati on, the wine remained in French oak casks, for about 12 months, and was submitted to
light filtering before being bott led. Very soon we will present some more wines of this company in MN, of a superior segment: HP Reserva, HP Parcelas and HP Ícone.
