Bernadino Costa : Explicit Vinhas Velhas Branco 2022

Originating from the Alentejo, more precisely from Évora (Extremoz), and produced by Sociedade Agrícola Jorge Rosa Santos e Filhos Lda. Although it is a family-owned company with a strong connection to working the land — the art of farming — it has a long history dating back to the times of the Marquis of Pombal.
Dear readers, here is the Explicit Vinhas Velhas Branco 2022.
“Explicit” meant, in medieval Latin, something that had just been revealed or unveiled. According to the producer: “Translating the philosophy that guides us, we want to say, through its name, that this wine genuinely reveals all the characteristics of our vineyard.”
The vineyard where this beautiful wine is born is located on a spur of the Serra d’Ossa, in a small plot of land called Monte do Mata Mouros. Produced from old vines aged 60 to 70 years and after a rigorous winemaking and oenology process led by enologists Frederico, Jorge, and Vasco Rosa Santos, this magnificent nectar is a true delight for the senses.
Very elegant and mineral, with floral and citrus notes. On the palate, it reveals itself as rich and full-bodied, with some unctuosity and notes of moss that confirm the citrus aromas. A long and persistent finish, where a light but vibrant acidity stands out.
An excellent nectar to enjoy as an aperitif during these longer and warmer days ahead, although for me, wines are timeless.
