Anabela Moreira : Lightning

In interior design, lighting is often treated as a technical detail — a simple switch between darkness and brightness. But in reality, it is so much more than that.
Light has the power to shape atmospheres: to enhance textures, expand volumes, and evoke emotions. A room filled with natural light invites well-being; warm lighting wraps us in a blanket of comfort; focused lighting highlights what we want to tell — a painting, a sculpture, a memory.
When I design a space, I always think about lighting. Choosing the right temperature, the proper intensity, the ideal placement— everything influences how we inhabit and experience a home.
Lighting should be considered from the very first stages of a project, not as a decorative afterthought.
Only then can we control how light interacts with materials, enhances architecture, and contributes to the well-being of those who live in the space.
We are surrounded by objects, but it is light that brings them to life. And it is light that ultimately makes us feel at home. Without light, there is no colour; without colour, there is no life.
