Harmony between design and nature
Harmony between design and nature
The Semelhe House is an architectural project located in Semelhe, Braga, which fits harmoniously into a housing development, standing out for its contemporary and innovative approach. The house explores modern architectural lines, offering an alternative to “conventional” design, without losing the connection with the surroundings and respecting the local identity. One of the main objectives of the project is to create a deep integration between the interior and exterior spaces, making the most of the topographical conditions of the land. The villa is strategically arranged to respond to the particular confrontation of the lot with two different streets. This characteristic determined the choice of the project, which chose to exclude any direct relationship of the lower floor with cars and traffic, creating an exclusively pedestrian access. This pedestrian path takes the visitor through several common spaces of coexistence and leisure, which make the house more dynamic and functional. The living room and kitchen, in an open-space concept, create an atmosphere of spaciousness and fluidity, while the gym offers an area dedicated to physical exercise.
Outside, a large garden with a swimming pool provides the ideal setting for moments of rest and leisure, reinforcing the idea of integration with nature.
To convey a sense of tranquility and proximity to the natural environment, the choice of materials was decisive. Travertine, used in both outdoor and indoor areas, was carefully selected for its ability to harmonize with the green of the palm trees that beautify the garden. This combination refers to the affective memories of the clients, evoking the serenity of the houses that once brought happy moments on the beaches of Miami. Thus, the project aims not only to offer comfort and functionality, but also to create a refuge that stimulates the calm and well-being of its inhabitants.
