Joana Marcelino

With 20 years of experience as an architect in the specialized areas of Architecture, Interiors, Decoration in Portugal, France, Germany, and Angola, Product Design, Curation, and Creative Direction, Joana brings extensive expertise in residential, commercial, and product design. She has collections of coatings and floorings in Pavigrés Lovetiles and Pedrantiqua, used in renowned hotels such as Les Jardins du Fabourg on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. Joana designed a piece of furniture for a Belgian publisher, Per Use, the DO IT mirror, presented at the Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk, Belgium, and the Salone del Mobile in Milan.

One of her recent and perhaps most innovative projects is the two BP fuel stations in Leiria, where environmental psychology and biophilia are integrated into the construction, following the philosophy that “the first stone of a project should be a tree.”

In late 2020, she launched a new project – Flores e Cerâmica – a 100% handmade initiative produced entirely in Portugal. It features a vast collection of utility and decorative ceramics with the Studio’s signature, emphasizing national production and the valorization of handmade ceramics, complemented by unique arrangements of fresh or preserved natural flowers.

Joana served as the Creative Director of Environments for the Casa Alegre by Vista Alegre brand launch, with some sessions for Bordallo Pinheiro and Vista Alegre in 2021. In early 2022, she took on the curation of the first flagship store for Wewood Portuguese Joinery and is now the creative director of the brand.

On May 28, 2022, she received the Honorary Merit Award at the 11th Edition of the Portuguese Gala of Value in Valenton, France, awarded by Lusopress. She is again nominated for the gala scheduled for May 12 this year.
