The Casais Group and CEiiA (Centre for Engineering and Product Development) have joined forces to promote innovative solutions in the field of sustainable mobility, in a partnership that reflects the two entities’ ongoing commitment to promoting mobility alternatives that respond to environmental challenges and the needs of employees.

The solution developed is based on a new model integrating shared ownership and shared use, designed for communities such as companies and individuals who value sustainability as a way of life.

This new service concept aims to optimise the use of assets according to users’ travel needs and uses a digital platform that allows integration between different means of electric mobility (bicycles, scooters and cars) and user communities.

The service makes it possible to account for avoided emissions in real time, giving users the opportunity to share ownership of their vehicle and obtain compensation for encouraging its shared use. Avoided emissions can be transformed into credits that can be exchanged for other services, thus encouraging zero-carbon mobility in cities.

Initially, a shared mobility community will be created for the Casais Group, centred on the Casais Campus and extending to the Padim da Graça and Frossos centres. This initiative also focuses on the way employees travel to work. It is a natural offshoot of the concerns already demonstrated by the Casais Group in previous partnerships, such as the one established with Transportes Urbanos de Braga (TUB). The ambition is also to apply these solutions to its own property projects and others developed for third parties.

António Carlos Rodrigues, CEO of the Casais Group, states that: ‘we believe that sustainability starts indoors, but must impact the way we connect to the world around us. This project with CEiiA allows us not only to provide an advanced infrastructure for our employees, but also to explore new forms of mobility that adapt to more sustainable urban and business contexts.’ The group’s CEO added: ‘We want to be pioneers in creating an ecosystem that integrates technology, innovation and environmental responsibility, making travelling more efficient and with a lower carbon footprint.’

The Casais Community pilot will be the first in a series of projects with potential for expansion and replication in other business and housing contexts, consolidating the Casais Group’s position as a benchmark in sustainable innovation.
