FIMAP 2024: Technology and Business at the Forefront of the Wood, Forestry, Logging and Biomass Industry

Between 24 and 26 October, from 10am to 7pm, Exponor will host the 22nd edition of FIMAP – International Trade Fair for Machinery, Accessories and Services for the Wood, Forestry, Logging and Biomass Industries. The event, recognised as a milestone in the sector, attracts companies and professionals from different countries, consolidating itself as a crucial platform for the industry.

In 2024, the fair will include the forestry and logging sectors, highlighting machinery, production support equipment and services for the forestry sector, as well as the wood and forestry waste processing industries. The Biomass sector has also been strengthened, emphasising its importance as a source of renewable energy. This update has already led to an increase in the Fair’s area, 40 per cent more than in the previous edition.

“FIMAP is not just a trade fair, it is a catalyst for change and innovation in the wood industry and related sectors. We are committed to presenting the latest technologies and solutions, but also to promoting practices that respect and preserve the environment,” explains Amélia Estevão, Exponor’s Marketing Director.

The event is intended to provide an up-to-date view of the market, as well as networking and business opportunities for all participants. Lignotec will be among the exhibitors, offering its 25 years of expertise. For the company, FIMAP is a setting where business has always been developed, due to its importance in the national calendar. “FIMAP is very important for the sector and manages to reach a large number of customers, combined with its recognition for doing things well,” says Vitorino Pacheco, CEO of Lignotec.

The upcoming edition seeks to highlight solutions for a more sustainable planet, but also to encourage participants to adopt innovative practices. Lignotec, for example, is committed to leading this movement by presenting its new wooden house construction systems, which significantly reduce the carbon footprint, promoting sustainability and the circular economy. With a forecast of 30 per cent growth compared to the last edition, FIMAP promises to be a crucial point for the sector, bringing together a diverse range of players to present the latest innovations in favour of the planet.

In addition to the exhibition, the fair will feature workshops and talks, which will ensure an exchange of knowledge between professionals in the field. Presenting the latest trends and combining them with business will be one of the objectives, which is why the event will focus on the topics that dominate the agenda. According to Vitorino Pacheco, the lack of skilled labour and the emergence of new products to make up for the lack of raw materials, namely wood, are the issues that have been shaping the sector. These and other issues will be discussed in the programme, which will be released shortly.
