Conforama Iberia takes another step in its new phase of growth and development with the appointment of Manuel Estévez as CEO
Conforama Iberia, the leading home furnishings and equipment company in Portugal and Spain, has appointed Manuel Estévez as CEO, an executive with extensive and solid experience in the retail and consumer goods sector, to lead the company’s new phase.
This appointment follows the acquisition of Conforama Iberia by a company associated with the XXXLutz group and its integration into its Giga International purchasing group. Created in 1947, the XXXLutz group has expanded over the years, and the company’s impressive growth trajectory is testimony to its commitment to excellence. Today, the companies that make up Giga operate an extensive network of more than 900 furniture shops in 17 countries, employing more than 25,000 people and generating a turnover of more than 13 billion euros, making it a world leader in the sector. After 77 years of existence, the Group continues to belong to the family of its founders.
The new CEO, Manuel Estévez, had already been connected to the company between 2008 and 2020, first as managing director of Conforama Iberia, until he was appointed CEO of Conforama Italy in 2016. During his time as CEO, Manuel Estévez drove a profound change in the shop concept and resumed the company’s expansion.
With a degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona, he has developed his professional career in leading companies such as Carrefour, Alcampo, Grupo Adeo and, most recently, Feu Vert.
Manuel Estévez takes up his new position at Conforama Iberia with the challenge of continuing to consolidate the company’s expansion and growth in the Iberian Peninsula, where it already has a network of 58 shops (45 in Spain and 13 in Portugal) and employs more than 2,300 people.
There is no doubt that Conforama Iberia, thanks to the support of the new shareholder, is entering a new phase with the aim of further strengthening its position in the market as one of the leaders in furniture and decoration. It’s an honour for me to take on this ambitious challenge, which marks a new business milestone in Conforama’s more than 30 years of presence in Spain and Portugal,” says Manuel Estévez.
This new phase has the support and vast experience of the XXXLutz group to continue developing Conforama’s business. This support will make it possible to develop the company’s acceleration and digitalisation plans, reinforcing the concept of a differentiating shop, with an offer that covers all the needs of the home and is based on “smart choice”, and providing specialised advice and a multi-style portfolio.
Conforama Iberia appreciates and thanks the contribution of David Almeida, who began his career with the group in 1999 and is now leaving for new professional challenges. Since 2016 he has led Conforama Iberia as CEO, executing the expansion strategy with the opening of new shops and implementing the company’s digitalisation strategy.
