Alejandro Bermejo, new president of Maderalia. The 45-year-old Valencian industrialist replaced Francisco Perelló at the head of the Organizing Committee of the auxiliary furniture, wood and carpentry sector, which will return to the stage along with FIMMA next year 2024. Perelló, in this way, resigns from the presidency of Maderalia after a successful career of more than 15 years in which he positioned the biennial of wood as the reference event in Latin America and southern Europe.
Bermejo takes the baton with “all the enthusiasm in the world and with great enthusiasm” in the preparation of the next event, scheduled for next year and after a final event in 2022 in which FIMMA + Maderalia exceeded its best forecasts with more than 35,000 professional visitors -10% more than in the last edition- and the recovery of the international market.
Bermejo set itself the challenge of “strengthening Maderalia in the face of the new challenges that arise in the era of digitization and sustainability”. In this sense, for the new president of Maderalia, “trade fairs should be a fundamental meeting point for all those who make up the sector: entrepreneurs, customers, specifiers, agents, etc.” A fair that is more necessary than ever and that opens an important stage of challenges in which we must value the whole sector.”
Extensive experience in the sector
Alejandro Bermejo (Valencia, 1977) is a businessman with a long career in both the industry and the sector. Senior Technician in Environmental Health at the University of Valencia, Bermejo participated in the birth in 2000 of the firm Alto Turia, a firm that over the years has positioned itself as an important player in the competitive market of solid wood products, as well as in the market of wood flooring and coatings and contract projects. The company already exports 15% of its annual turnover to markets around the world.
In addition, the new president of Maderalia regularly participates in the main associative and representative forums of the sector. In fact, he has been president of the regional employers’ association FEVAMA (Federación Empresarial de la Madera y Mueble de la Comunidad Valenciana) since 2020, as well as of the association of the carpentry sector ASEMAD (Asociación de Empresarios de Carpintería y Afines de la Comunidad Valenciana) since 2017. Alejandro Bermejo is also a member of several working groups at the Business Confederation of the Valencian Community (CEV) and at the Valencia Chamber of Commerce.
