Vicaima adds new international project equipping university building in Morocco
The company’s solutions installed in one of the most important educational centres in Africa, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University.
Vicaima was selected to supply the interior doors for the new Science and Technology Centre at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). In the classrooms, corridors, halls and common spaces, various brand solutions were implemented with the aim of creating an ideal study environment, in line with the project’s basic concept – rectilinear and functional geometries that emphasise aesthetics without neglecting comfort.
To meet this requirement, a multitude of Portaro® solutions were integrated – a set that incorporates the door, frame and accessories in a single piece, especially Portaro® Inverse – a concept that allows the door to face the trim or panels, creating a rectilinear and continuous surface.
As this is an educational project, fire protection is essential and is ensured by the Portaro® FD30 and FD30 Shuttle solutions, the latter with the aim of promoting easy circulation between spaces. Comfort and concentration were also taken into account, with the application of Portaro® fire and acoustic protection FD30 AC33dB and EI30 AC35dB Inverse, which guarantee acoustic insulation of up to 33 and 35 decibels, respectively.
In the common areas, some solutions include glass openings, allowing natural light to enter – a factor scientifically proven to influence learning – in a unique architectural design, whose central courtyard ensures lighting and ventilation in all rooms.
In terms of coverings, the choice fell on the sobriety, high resistance and durability of Dekordor® HD Colours Volcanic Grey.
The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University houses a significant number of research laboratories and innovation centres in areas related to science and technology, essential for sustainable development, but also agriculture, mining and health, to which a hospital will be added. The building, designed by RBTA, is truly unique in the city, with a central pergola as its emblem and exquisite contemporary architecture.
The project contains the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified buildings in the country and is located in the commune of Benguerir, around 70 kilometres from the ‘red city’, representing the heart of the ‘Mohammed VI Green City’ – an area that is home to 100,000 people, 20,000 students and researchers, with an average of 20 square metres of green space per resident.
Aiming to become a world-class university centre, this city offers an attractive and ecologically exemplary living environment around an ecosystem of knowledge. Whether in terms of urbanisation or infrastructure, the entire city fabric integrates highly efficient equipment and technologies, in line with Vicaima’s sustainability policy.
With technical solutions certified by accredited international bodies and a wide range of products with FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) certification, the company reinforces its path of avant-garde innovation and sustainable optimisation, designing each range to be fully adaptable to any type of user.
