Portugal strengthens furniture exports in the UK
From 6 to 9 October, 17 Portuguese furniture and decoration brands will stand out at Decorex International 2024, one of the most influential interior design events in the UK. Despite the challenges posed by Brexit, Portugal continues to strengthen its presence in the British market, demonstrating the quality and innovation of the national wood and furniture industry.
Portuguese furniture has successfully faced up to the new challenges of exporting to the UK. Even in the current Brexit context, Portuguese companies have shown a remarkable ability to adapt, continuing to record an increase in exports to this important market, where Portugal has long-standing trade relations.
Portugal has thus maintained its leading position as a supplier of furniture and wood products, with sustained growth in exports. It is in this context that the AIMMP – Associação das Indústrias de Madeira e Mobiliário de Portugal (Portuguese Wood and Furniture Industries Association) has played an important role in promoting international initiatives that raise the profile of Portugal’s offer, including participation in Decorex International 2024 in London.
This initiative is a strategic opportunity for Portuguese brands to strengthen their presence in the British market, one of the most important and demanding in the world. Decorex International takes place between 6 and 9 October and is recognised as one of the UK’s largest interior design events, attracting internationally renowned designers, architects and buyers. AIMMP will be present with 17 national companies in the Grand Hall Stands: A78 & D60 and National Hall Stands: J10, K10 & L10.
In this 46th edition, the AIMMP is bringing Portuguese companies – Compincar, Fenabel/Sentta, Formefeitos, Frato, Granorte, Le Brands Group, Mamoa, MBN Group, More Contract, Muranti, NAUU Collectible Art Design, Ronfe, Sofli, Stylish Club, Suffa, Wonatti Luxury Craftsmanship and X8 Solutions Group, brands that stand out for their combination of innovative design, superior quality and sustainability, characteristics that have been fundamental to Portugal’s success in the international interior design market.
For Vítor Poças, President of AIMMP, ‘Brexit has brought significant challenges, but also opportunities for growth and innovation. Portugal’s continued presence at Decorex International demonstrates the resilience and talent of our companies. Our aim is not only to maintain but also to strengthen trade links with the UK, promoting the excellence of Portuguese interior design.’
In recent years, Portugal’s wood and furniture sector has recorded impressive export results and despite the economic and trade uncertainties associated with Brexit, exports to the UK have continued to grow, demonstrating the sector’s resilience.
Taking part in Decorex International 2024 will be another opportunity for Portuguese companies to consolidate these achievements and explore new opportunities in an evolving and highly developed market in London, a capital of luxury and sophistication.
