Cénica Porto – Curio Collection by Hilton opened
With a unique concept, inspired by the world of theatre and the cultural heritage of the site, the former Modestos Theatre, every guest is a star.
On 6 November, Porto welcomed a new hotel to the city: the Cénica Porto Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, a sophisticated five-star unit that offers a unique and immersive experience under the motto ‘Stay in the Scene’.
Inspired by the rich theatrical heritage of the building, formerly the Modestos Theatre, the Cénica promises to become a reference space for those looking to experience the city’s culture and history in an authentic and immersive way, within a unique concept that perfectly balances a cultural, informal and urban lifestyle style with quality service.
A Historic Building
Located in Rua de Gonçalo Cristóvão, right in the centre of Porto, the hotel occupies a building steeped in history. Once part of the Quinta de Santo António do Bonjardim, this space dates back to the early 19th century, when the area still marked the city limits. In 1902, the venue became the home of the Modestos Theatre Group, one of the city’s first and most influential theatre groups, active until the 1980s and the stage for many renowned actors. To honour this legacy, the hotel has preserved the original façade – which does not go unnoticed by all who enter the space – and transposed the atmosphere to its essence and design.
A Theatrical Backstage Concept
At the Cénica Porto Hotel, every detail has been carefully thought out to involve visitors in an experience worthy of a theatre set, from the curtains that adorn the decor, both in the public areas and in the rooms, to the spaces designed as backstage areas. With a privileged location – close to the Trindade metro – and unobstructed views across Porto, the Cénica Porto Hotel presents itself as a centre stage in the city, providing a unique connection with local cultural life. The space of the former theatre has been restored, promising to be a meeting point for cultural plans and private events, reinforcing the hotel’s commitment to offering a rich and multifaceted experience.
Unforgettable experiences
The hotel has 126 accommodation units, including suites, and offers a gastronomic experience at its Dramatics Restaurant & Bar, under the guidance of Chef Nuno Miguel, with a Mediterranean menu full of authentic flavours. With the aim of providing moments of relaxation and well-being, Cénica also includes a spa with an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and Turkish bath, several treatment rooms, a fully equipped Technogym gym, a patio and a cosy garden.
‘The opening of the Cénica represents the fusion between Porto’s vibrant history and the unique hospitality experience we strive to provide our guests,’ says Simone Gillig, General Manager of the Cénica Porto Hotel. ‘We want every visitor to experience the city from this special location, where past and present meet, offering authentic moments and a deep connection to the city’s culture.”
More than a hotel, the Cénica Porto Hotel is a cultural destination that offers an urban refuge for those looking to be at the epicentre of Porto life.
