Casais Group organises series of conferences in three cities to reflect on the future of construction

At a time when Portugal is preparing to invest in the development and construction of a series of major public works, the Casais Group, one of the largest companies in the construction sector in Portugal, is organising a series of conferences to debate and reflect on the sector, innovation, functional design and one of the biggest crises facing the country: housing.
The topics up for debate are aligned with the group’s ESG strategic axes and will be discussed at conferences on 9 and 15 October and 15 November.

The first conference will be held in Guimarães on 9 October. As part of the Guimarães Economy Month, organised by the local authority, the Casais Group is offering a conference on ‘Digital Transformation in the Construction Sector’. The event will discuss digital transformation in the construction chain, but also the process of industrialisation, career retraining and productivity in the sector. Given the importance of the topic, the Casais Group – and other partners from different sectors – will also be discussing it at the conference ‘The Digital Transformation of Industry and Processes’, which will be held on the morning of 9 October, also as part of Guimarães Economy Month.

In Lisbon, the Casais Group proposes to discuss the acceleration of housing construction, at a time when Portugal is experiencing a scourge in this area. The conference will take place on 15 October and there will be an opportunity to address issues such as the gap between need and execution, as well as measures that can contribute to greater output on the part of the public and private sectors. Balancing the need for speed and quantity without losing quality will also be a topic of debate, which will include Lisbon City Council’s Councillor for Housing and Municipal Works, Filipa Roseta. The conference will be closed by the Minister for Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz.

The third conference in this cycle will be held in Barcelos on 15 November. The theme is Functional Design, a trend that represents an opportunity for the construction sector. Through this design discipline, it is possible to give a space the ability to last over time, create refined solutions, challenge industrial preconceptions and promote innovative solutions.

‘Throughout its six decades of existence, the Casais Group has always been very community-orientated and country-focused. It is very important for us to be present at the Guimarães Economy Month, something we have already been doing, addressing a topic that we consider to be of great relevance, such as Digital Transformation. The construction sector is, and can be even more, innovative, betting on new tools such as artificial intelligence and augmented reality,’ says António Carlos Rodrigues, CEO of the Casais Group.

‘Housing is an unavoidable issue in our country. We need to speed up construction, both in terms of subsidised housing and using the hybrid model, in order to respond to the hundreds of families who need a place to live. And that’s why it must also be a topic to be addressed in this Conference Cycle,’ adds the CEO of the Casais Group.
