AICEP takes more than 70 Portuguese brands to Paris Design Week
Portuguese design will be back in Paris from 4 to 9 September 2025 with the exhibition Re.MADE IN PORTUGAL naturally, organised by AICEP as part of Paris Design Week. In this third participation, Portugal celebrates the creativity, know-how and innovation of more than 70 Portuguese brands.
Inspired by the theme of Paris Design Week – Régénération, the exhibition illustrates Portugal’s ability to reinvent itself based on its tradition. The prefix ‘Re.’, now associated with the MADE IN PORTUGAL naturally brand, is a statement of principles: it represents the Portuguese home industry’s commitment to regeneration, reinvention and reuse, striking a balance between cultural heritage and modernity.
The brands present transform, recreate and innovate, valuing authentic materials, ancestral techniques and sustainability. They demonstrate that it is possible to preserve an identity while projecting it into the future.
The exhibition is curated by Nini Andrade Silva, an internationally renowned interior designer, who will showcase the space located at 16 Rue des Minimes, in the Marais district, one of the highlights of Paris Design Week. With sensitivity and creativity, Nini presents a Portugal where tradition, materials and forms are reinvented in a dialogue between memory and the future.
The Portuguese home furnishings sector is renowned for its tradition of craftsmanship, quality and customisation. It encompasses the furniture, lighting, home textiles and household goods sectors (ceramics, cutlery, metalwork, glass and crystal), and stands out for its capacity for innovation and trend-setting. The industry’s competitive advantages also include high operational efficiency and the ability to produce small series quickly.
The French market is the main destination for Portuguese exports in the Home sector. In 2024, France accounted for 26% of exports in this sector, followed by Spain, the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom. The sector comprises around 7,200 companies and employs approximately 65,000 people. Turnover reached €4.412 billion in 2024, with exports worth €2.89 billion. Furniture accounts for more than 50% of total exports, followed by home textiles, household goods and lighting.
The Re.MADE IN PORTUGAL naturally exhibition is organised by AICEP – Agência para o Investimento e Comércio Externo de Portugal (Portuguese Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade), a public entity responsible for promoting exports, internationalising companies and attracting foreign investment.
