Bernardino Costa : Arquivo Branco 2022

Dear MN readers, for this edition, since the holidays season is also starting, we went to the archive and there found the Arquiv Branco Reserva 2022. Produced by FAP Wines, a personal project of the winemaker and producer Matos, this one is another confirmation that not all great wines have in their labels the “Quinta” designation.
And we absolutely are in the presence of an excellent wine, which we should keep at home at all times. In my opinion, it is worth every euro. It is produced with the Viosinho, Verdelho and Rabigato grapes, coming from rented vineyards in the higher Douro. Before being bottled and after fermenting in inox vats, it stayed in used French oak barrels (second year) with batonnage.
Therefore, we have a wine with an acidity on point, whichis however only felt in the finish, a captivating unctuousness, floral and tropical fruit aromas. All of this in a perfect balance. Although it is ready for tasting, it also deserves to be kept in your wine cellar, which is an accomplishment in itself and probably its secret, as its ALC by volume is only 12%, which makes it even more seducing. According to the producer, and while this is a fairly recent project, “Our wines are made thinking of friends the joy of sharing life!”.

Tasting notes:
Floral aromas, some tropical and critic fruit. In the mouth,
it reveals all its splendor, confirming the aromatic notes,
volume, unctuousness and perfect texture, acidity on point
– all in perfect harmony. A seducing wine, full of character
and an excellent, persistent and lasting finish. Although it
has gastronomical potential, it is ideal as an aperitif or solo
after a meal, in the company of friends.
