Bernadino Costa : Post Scriptum Tinto 2023 Douro Doc

Dear Readers and oenophiles, we bring you Post Scriptum Tinto 2023 Douro Doc. Brother to the acclaimed Chryseia, but more modest. Vinified in the Down’s cellar, from there those Ports come, and starting with a manual and rigorous selection of grapes. They are crushed in a soft manner before entering the vat, and after the inoculation, the fermentation with temperature control is started. Soft maceration. 12 months in French oak barrels of 400L. The grape blend that originates this magnificent wine consists of 58% Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca 39% and 3 % Tinta Roriz – typical regional grapes. Although the price nears 18,00€, I truly believe it worth each euro.
Produced by Prats & Symington Estates, since 1998, when the Symington family proposed that Bruno Prats would participate in a new project, which consisted of producing a great non-fortified wine in the Douro region. This came to fruition in 1999, with the creation of da PRATS & SYMINGTON Ltd, as an equitable partnership between the two families, both known around the world for their Ports of enormous quality.

Tasting notes:
As previously mentioned, the Post Scriptum is a wine
with a similar profile to that of Chryseia: expressive
and concentrated fruit, allied to a great balance and
elegance, ready to be consumed since young. Of
intense ruby color, it shows aroma of ripe wild berries,
with some citric notes as well as some chocolate,
which tell us we are in the presence of a very
generous and balanced mix. In the mouth, it reveals
itself harmonious, engaging, with the right acidity,
freshness, spice notes, confirming the aromatic notes.
Great finish, very tuned and persistent, inspiring a
meal of typical meat dishes and melting cheeses.
